Youth Research Center on the IMISCOE Spring Conference: Transforming Mobility and Immobility: Brexit and Beyond

The IMISCOE Spring Conference: Transforming Mobility and Immobility: Brexit and Beyond took place on March 28-29 2019 at Sheffield University.

During the first conference day, Dominika Winogrodzka together with Olga Czeranowska (CMR) gave a presentation on “Geographical and occupational trajectories of multiple migrants from Poland” on the session “Future mobility.” Dominika Winogrodzka has presented the preliminary results of the research project “Peer groups and migration”. Dominika Winogrodzka and Olga Czeranowska were analysing the subjective and objective dimensions of careers (including consideration education and human capital, as well as duration and number of migrations) and the motivations behind young people’s international mobility and level of their satisfaction with results of migrations. In the presentation, both were considered quantitative and qualitative aspects of Polish immigration after 1989.

During the second conference day, Professor Izabela Grabowska together with Doctor Agnieszka Trąbka gave a talk on “Youth from Central and Eastern Europe facing risks in the UK. The comparative study of Poles and Lithuanians in the context of Brexit” on the “Brexit and uncertainties” session. The methodological concept of project “CEEYouth: The comparative study of young migrants from Poland and Lithuania in the context of Brexit“ was presented. Professor Izabela Grabowska and Doctor Agnieszka Trabąka were presenting among others the research hypotheses, the mix-method methodology, the profile of participant of the quantitive part, the idea and timetable of synchronous and asynchronous encounters (24 months) and the research agenda (Presentation_Grabowska_Trabka).

Luka Klimavičiūtė (the member of CEEYouth project team) gave a speech on “Lithuanian and Polish returnees: knowledge transfer and long-term knowledge mobility” on “Returnings” session.
